Puppy School Report

Mischa is doing very well in school - she is learning to sit (for a treat), lay down (for a treat), walk like a sane puppy dog (as long as the treats keep coming) and to come when we call (well, maybe sometimes, and that's even with the bribe of a treat!). She had a great time playing with Morgan again today - those two really have a blast wrestling and running around - some of the bigger dogs even wanted to come play with them this week. Several classmates (people) came up to me this week and told me how proud I should be that my little Mischa was really coming out of her shell and getting more and more courageous every week - she's a big girl now! In other news, our Coton friend Morgan has a blog of her own now - as soon as I figure out how to officially link the two pups' websites from Mischa's blog I will do so - until then, you can see Morgan's page at www.cotonmorgan.blogspot.com

Sweet Pea in the Pumpkin Patch

Its time to carve pumpkins and dust off our Halloween costumes - we think Mischa is going to go as a Geisha - she got a lovely dress, and I'm going to see if I find a way to do her hair in a bun with chopsticks. We'll see how that goes.
So, Simo and I took Mischa to pick out some pumpkins for carving this week - we got some great ones, and some great shots of Princess Mischa, too!
Class Three: The Day of the Little Dogs

Well, we knew Mischa was thrilled to have Morgan in the class -- little dogs need to stick together! This week in class though, Mischa really surprised us when she pranced right up to Morgan and started a full-fledged puppy-play-date. They ran, they wrestled, and they ran some more - around and around and around the room! Very cool. I think both girls were a bit worn out by the end of class, suddenly the "lay down" exercise was no challenge at all. We can't wait to see Morgan next week -- we may just have to schedule doggie day care play dates from time to time!
Mischa's First Haircut

Mischa's grandparents came all the way down from New Jersey last week to take their favorite grandpuppy for her very first haircut. We were all afraid she would be freaked out about the experience and mad at us for putting her through that, but she surprised us all - a totally chill little rock star - and what a CUTIE! Petsmart gave her a great puppy cut, and BANGS! Yes, Mischa came home with combed down bangs and a cute little bow in her hair - what a trendy little girl!

School is Fun!!!

We had a great time in class saturday. Mischa started the morning by being much more outgoing with the big dogs . . . she got run over a few times and bashed around a bit, but she took it like a champ and kept on romping around! We're trying to work on building courage and confience so that Mischa is not such a little shy girl when it comes to meeting other pets and their people - I think we're making progress, though she still loves to hide behind Simo or I when the going gets tough!
We thought she might enjoy this little skateboard (we think she looks adorable on it!), but don't expect her to go zipping by you on a skateboard any time soon.
The final surprise in class this week was a late enrollee - Morgan! Morgan is also a Coton like Mischa . . . not only did we gain a second little dog, but of the same breed! Morgan and Mischa have completely different personalities. Morgan is an alpha- pup and immediately started barking at all of the big dogs in class. She and Mischa became quick pals. The saga continues~

Mischa's New Hoodie

Well, its starting to get colder around here at night, and Princess Mischa does not seem terribly fond of cold weather. So, we thought we'd get her a little hoodie to keep her warm, and of course, because she IS a princess, we had her hoodie personalized. So, after weeks of waiting for the order to ship, Mischa finally gets to model her new hoodie. Enjoy!

Field Trip to Suzanne and Frank's House

On sunday, Mischa went to visit Aunt Suzanne and Uncle Frank - Aunt Katherine and Uncle Murray (Mischa's first aunt and uncle) were also in town for the party! Mischa took a bath and fluffed her hair that morning. She also wore her little bling collar for the first time ever, and a cute little yellow bow - after all, it was a party!
Simo and I (and Mischa) had a great time seeing the Bussos and the Harrises - we finally got to see the Bussos new home, which is so beautiful and cozy-home-like and we celebrated Suzanne's birthday a little bit early.
Here's Mischa with Suzanne and Frank - thanks for having us over, we loved it!

Mischa's Favorite "Toy"

In spite of having a dozen assorted squeaky toys, pull toys and every other puppy amusement one can imagine, it seems the little princess has taken a liking to a much more common, every day item as her favorite toy - MOMMY'S HAIR!!!
It started with a fascination with hair rubberbands, she would sit over my shoulder and tug at strands of hair until she could get to the rubberband.
Now, it seems, the rubberband isn't even so important. Why not just prance right up to Mommy's face and grab some of her hair and try to run away! A game only a mother could love!

Mischa's First Day of School

Today was Mischa's first day of school, called Puppy Basic, at the Woofs Dog Training School. Mischa's classmates are some pretty big puppies - so during leash-off play time she spent a good bit of time hiding between our feet - there is a black Labradoodle named Dusty who must weigh in at at least 60 pounds already at just under 6 months old, a soft coated wheaten terrier who is also pretty big and SUPER energetic, 4 other BIG puppies, and one midsized boy who's taken a liking to our little princess. He was not shy about showing it either - use your imagination. During class we worked on 3 main goals - "Sit!", "Down!" and the name recognition game. We think Mischa does know her name and has also mastered the art of selective hearing. Good thing class is 7 weeks long - we've got some work to do! In all honesty, though, Mischa was the most calm and well behaved puppy in the class - shy, and not always good at following commands yet, but she truly is our little angel. We'll be practicing our lessons during the week and will report our progress after next saturday's class!
